Our client is a global player in the industrial manufacturing industry. With offices spanning across various parts of North America and Europe, they are in the process of transitioning a majority of their supply base towards the Asia region and has plans make Singapore their region office. As a result of a business expansion in their Singapore office they are now looking to hire a Trade Compliance Specialist to be part of their pioneering team.
Reporting to the Global Trade Compliance Director, you will be responsible for developing the trade compliance audit plan with the assistance of the Global Trade Compliance Manager. You will be involved in updating and executing company wide- export and import audit program. You will also provide advice to management on trade compliance audit findings and control deficiencies. You will also be responsible in preparing audit reports and communicate audit results. You will be involved in preparing quarterly reports on the status of the audit plan as well as convey action plans to the trade compliance team members. You will work closely with the Trade Compliance Director and Manager to ensure that policies and procedures are up to date and adjust the audit program as and when necessary. You will also be involved in evaluating improvements in the use of cost management programs such as foreign trade zones and free trade agreements. You will also be responsible in updating and enhancing the employee training program and make sure that training is completed and documented. You will also be responsible in working with the customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure movement of goods between countries and work with the internal stakeholders to drive compliance with business regulations. You will also be responsible in coordinating harmonized tariff classification and export classification of materials and work with product management and engineering teams. You will also make sure that proper classifications are maintained in the SAP system across various countries. You will be instrumental in working closely with the various business legal entities and build upon the existing compliance practice and also help to develop and revise policies and procedures as and when necessary. You will be responsible in creating control plans to ensure compliance and also identify areas of non-compliance and implement tracking actions. You will be responsible in monitoring customs brokers to ensure timeliness of clearance of goods and as well as accuracy of data transmitted by the various logistics service providers across various countries. You will also prepare and process export documentation in the company's invoice system. You will also be required to monitor transactions through the global trade system using SAP and perform releases of shipment on hold for export compliance purposes.
Ideally, you possess a business degree and have at least 3 years of trade compliance and logistics experience in a manufacturing environment. You will be highly familiar with U.S import and export regulations and have experience in harmonized tariff and ECCN classification. You will also possess working knowledge on EAR and ITAR. Added advantage will be given to those who comes from the manufacturing industry and is familiar with SAP system.
