Job Description
- Develop and define merchandising strategy, reflective of the Company's strategic business vision, balancing key financial metrics with brand-building objectives:
- Develop a merchandising vision and strategy that challenges and changes not only how we show up to our customers, but also our internal norms and habits
- Reimagine the way our customers shop our categories by creating narrative, compelling product storytelling with elevating assortment mix
- Lead and manage the development of assortment and assortment planning, which support the high-level assortment vision and maximize sales, margin, and turnover
- Review seasonal assortments relative to the merchandise plan and financial company targets
- Develop and refine a strategic view of customer segments and behaviours, in order to better position brand and products in China
- Aggressively drive the business by identifying category and product opportunities and developing action plans to maximize best results by analysing and react to product and financial performance
- Identify fulfilment and inventory strategies to optimize inventory productivity; forecast future assortment; evaluate and develop assortments based on key trends &
- Build strong relationships with wholesales & e-commerce team to understand, influence and drive business objectives, ensure proper execution of strategies and goals are being met/surpassed in a timely manner
- Co-develop new ways of presenting our brand to customers through marketing, site merchandising, selling models, and technology
- Work with regional and local partners to understand shifts in consumer buying behaviour, current fashion trends, and the competitive landscape to optimize business opportunities and identify white space
- Adjust strategies in-season where needed and provide appropriate and timely direction in order to react to customer and business needs
- Manages budget, purchases projections, OTBs, store openings and ad hoc projects
YOUR FUNDAMENTAL QUALITIES
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Product Development, Fashion Merchandising, Economics or related subject Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) preferred
- 10 + years of merchandising experience required; omnichannel experience highly desirable
- Knowledge of footwear fashion market along with current market trends and competitors analysis
- Market knowledge, understanding of competitors, including pricing, style & key messaging to make sound recommendations for product/assortment
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion) & planning skills
- Strong financial acumen and analytics Solid understanding of components of gross margin and inventory management to maximize profitability
- Highly organized & proactive with strong ownership & passion for the brand
- Creative, visionary and able to clearly articulate product point-of-view
- Team-oriented & collaborative with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships across multiple levels & influence business decisions with internal & external partners
- Strong client and stakeholders management/leadership, dynamic and self-motivated
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, with advanced excel skills
- High proficiency in written and spoken English & Chinese
