The Role:

To effectively reduce supplier costs through management of commodity pricing and developing production process improvement programs, including "farm to plate" sourcing strategies. This will be achieved through building a strong business relationship with supplier partners, ensuring risk management of the supply chain and developing costing models for each product to provide cost savings that increase the profitability of Franchise Partners. This position is also responsible for mentoring and managing the Assistant Category Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate RFIs, RFPs and RFQs and evaluate results

- Develop commercial analyses to support negotiations

- Document supplier partner agreements with synopsis and sent across to contracts administration

- Understand and analyse supply markets. Collating a database of supplier partners and their capabilities

- Manage relationships with key internal and external customers

- Maintain supplier scorecard/performance reporting

- Maintain and update cost breakdown for each product

- Understand the supplier partners manufacturing operations

- Understand the specification for each product

- Maintain an up to date knowledge of commodity pricing and outlook

- As required write articles for publishing in weekly bulletin and annual reports

- Update category and strategy details for inclusion in board meetings to the board of directors

- Activate trial cycles and follow up with supply chain to ensure closure of implementation

- Compute and clock Savings, Rebates for approval

- Manage operational issues when escalated by Supply Chain

- Monitor vendor approval process

- Identify savings opportunities to maximise Franchise Partner profitability

- Develop a detailed cost structure and pricing protocol of each product

- Develop strategies to ensure the ongoing achievement of cost savings

- Understand the supplier partners processing operations including bench marking overseas pricing and raw materials

- Have a detailed understanding of relevant industries and maintain relationships with all key supplier partners in that industry

- Develop contingency supply plans for each product

- Setup and maintain contingency supplier partners list for each product

- Review supplier partners performance through Quality Net

- Mentor and manage Assistant Category Manager(s) and provide training as required

- Present at Franchise Owner /supplier meetings when required

- Monitor completion of vendor approval process

- Implement supplier partner improvement plan according to scorecard

- Ensure timely support to PPC actions

- Deliver clear and competitive category strategies which underpin the wider business strategy and maximize cost savings for the organisation while maintaining good quality and consistent supply

- Provide subject matter input and guidance into the assigned category strategy development

- Assess and develop 1 – 3 years category strategies and plans

- Ensure category strategies are in line with the mid and long-term goal of the organisation

- Plan and execute negotiations for tenders, contracts and strategic partnerships, ensuring the organisation receives the best value

- Take overall responsibility for the performance and targets of the category

- Take overall responsibility for performances of suppliers for the assigned categories

- Conduct segmentation of suppliers and develop strategies to manage various segments while aligning to the business strategy

- Take responsibility for Supplier Partner Relationship Management

- Ensure robust supplier contingencies are in place in case of supplier partner default

- Willing to travel 30% of the time

 

Skills/Technical Requirements:

- Minimum 5-7 years business experience

- Exposure to grocery, food manufacturing or QSR industry

- Experience in supplier development in food in Southeast Asian markets

- Possess knowledge and experience in procurement, sourcing and supplier development

- In-depth knowledge of food & beverage industry

- In-depth knowledge of food categories and required strategies

- Working knowledge of Supplier Management best practices in particular categories of spend

- Is self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to lead and coordinate negotiations

- Able to communicate and manage suppliers, supplier teams and internal stakeholders

- Strong MS Office and analytical skills
