Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Business partner to the China distribution and investment teams

  • Build the China finance function from scratch

  • Over time, as the business grows, build and develop the China finance team

  • Every aspect of financial control for the China legal entities

  • Timely production, reporting and analysis of management information

  • Compliance with all finance-related regulatory requirements including audit, capital and tax

  • Manage relationships with local external vendors, including audit, banking and advisory

  • Drive the development and maintenance of a sound financial control environment

  • Proactively identify and execute improvements to the operating platform

  • Provide assistance to the wider global finance teams on an ad-hoc basis

  • Provide assistance for new business initiatives in the region or affecting the region

  • Ensure, where possible, that all process and reporting is globally aligned

Requirements

  • Recognized accounting qualification or qualified by experience with 8+ years' experience

  • Financial services experience essential; Mutual fund experience preferable

  • Experience gained in a variety of finance roles, ideally including a Head of Finance position

  • Aware of cultural differences across the business, with the ability to navigate them

  • Comfortable playing a key role in management discussions locally and globally

  • Ability to influence, partner and challenge when operating in a global matrix structure

  • Ability to command high levels of respect from stakeholders and peers

  • Strategic awareness and an ability to understand the detail

  • Deep understanding of the regional regulatory environment

  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and other basic functions, which may be tested

  • Organized, numerate, and methodical with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Able to communicate clearly in verbal and written form with all levels of seniority

  • Ability to work on own initiative and operate as part of a team

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting demands with minimal supervision

  • Track record of being both a good team player and successful team leader

  • Enthusiastic and proactive with a good sense of humour
