Report to: Regional Engineering Manager

Working scope: China Region

Working Location: Hefei

The Company:

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead process equipment and automation development from zero based on potentially vagueVOC and ideas
    • layout project plan, budget, schedule and form small multi-disciplinary project team to develop idea through to handover to manufacturing
    • devise project's technical path and strategy to deliver results on time and on budget while developing project team members' in the process
  • Perform equipment engineering and automate manual process / handling in project teams of mixed disciplines
  • Collect requirements to develop scope of work, ideas, concepts, spec's & RFQ
  • Design manufacturing equipment layout, fixtures, jigs, carts and manual assists (generic and customized solutions)
  • Engineer and improve production equipment for safety, quality, reliability, capacity, efficiency, flexibility, ergonomics, maintenance and ROIC
  • Identify low-hanging fruits, prioritize opportunities, capture quick wins and highlight remaining gaps to fill
  • Review concepts, designs & drawings for safety, interference, ease of fabrication, manufacturing effectiveness, feasibility, practicality and code compliance
  • Design experiments, run tests/trials, checkout, analyze data to recommend, verify and optimize equipment / automation for manufacturing performance excellence
  • Source, customize and integrate off-the-shelf components, commercially-available machinery, solutions and standard systems into turn-key intelligent manufacturing lines through team collaboration
  • Automate manual processes and handling with robots, conveyor belts, AGV's and cassettes
  • Leverage vendors in fabrication, installation and replication of prototype, pilot or production equipment
  • Plan, coordinate and execute site preparation, equipment move-in, installation, hook-up, power-on, check-out, testing and start-up
  • Communicate ideas, plans, project status & opinions effectively in written format and via oral presentations with clear illustrations and drawings; utilize suitable media / communication channels and harness multiple media to communicate to different stakeholders effectively
  • Document meetings, design reviews, site activities, progress, results, assignments, technical understanding, vendor assessment, equipment check-out, on-site installations, engineering changes, performance improvements, innovations and intellectual assets
  • Contribute and facilitate decision-making and influence decision-makers, stakeholders and peers using suitable methodology, data and tools

Share experience & lessons learned, cross-train, coach, guide, develop and support peers.

Education & Experience:

  • BS/MS/PhD majoring in Mechanical, Aerospace, Naval Engineering, Engineering Physics or related fields
  • ≥ 5 years of solid experience in equipment design, mechanical engineering & analysis and/or related fields
  • Equipment & automation lead / mechanical designer position available for suitable candidate with ≥ 10 years of solid and significant applied experience in equipment design, automation, mechanical engineering, project management, team & technical leadership and technical analysis
  • Experience working on process equipment or automation for glass finishing and/or automotive sub-component manufacturing a plus
    • Exposure to APQP, PPAP or Automotive Safety Testing a plus
  • Experience of living, studying, working or extended traveling outside of home country or dealing with foreigners is a plus
  • Extensive working experience in multi-national corporations is a plus
  • Diversity of experience or background is an asset

Required Skills:

  • Strong in machine design and equipment integration
  • Excellent computer and 2D & 3D CAD skills (good command of MS Office, AutoCAD and Solidworks)
  • Hire capable and eager engineers and help build up functional team
    • Help define functional team capabilities and recommend strategies and areas worth further development
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform with limited supervision under time pressure
